Name List from 1990

Well, I found one of my old journals the other day . . . it was dated May 1990 (when I was 17) and it had a list of girl names and boy names that I liked. My sister and I used to borrow baby name books from the library and make up lists like that for fun. Anyway, some of the names on the list I still like, but others . . . I wonder what I was thinking! I'm going to post the list when I get home and see what you ladies think. It's funny to see how trends change over the years.

So what do you think of my circa 1990 names?

Well, it definitely makes sense that many of the names seem dated, given when I picked them out. I think I got lucky with the names I ended up picking for my children, because some of these names were unique (or at least not common) in 1990, but not anymore. Ariella is just beginning to catch on (and hopefully, won't go too far up the chart). Alexander, of course, is extremely popular, but it's a family name, so it doesn't really matter, plus I think it is one of those timeless names, anyway. He was almost either Cameron (for a boy) or Madison (for a girl), either one of which would have been popular and dated him.

It's definately interesting to see the change in trends, although some are here for the long run!
